306th Bomb Group Historical Association

The 306th Bomb Group Historical Association is dedicated to research and education of the history of the 306th Bombardment Group, U.S. 8th Air Force, 1942-1946. The 306th Bomb Group (“The Reich Wreckers”) led the first daylight bombing mission flown by American forces over Germany on January 27, 1943, was the first 8th Air Force bomb group to complete 300 missions, was the longest serving bomb group in the 8th Air Force, and was also the inspiration for the 1949 movie ‘Twelve O’Clock High’, starring Gregory Peck.

We will be selling copies of the book “Shot Down”, the true story of a 306th Bomb Group 10-man crew who were shot down in their B-17 while on a mission in 1944. More info about the book: https://stevesnyderauthor.com/
