Thomas Carlisle: History of Christmas!

For the first time, we’re going to have Hollywood Christmas historian, Thomas Carlisle at the Ball! He worked with many of the historic Hollywood composers that created the Christmas songs we know and love. He has photos and stories that he’ll be sharing with you.
He’ll also be bringing his history of Christmas display that focuses on the 1940s and 50s, with a huge tree that is decorated just like it was in the 1940s, with all the lights and dimmers that you can try out. He’ll also be bringing some paintings that show how the famous Christmas songs were written.
From Tom:
“‘Twas the Night Before Christmas was written on Christmas Eve day in Chelsea New York 1822. I spent years compiling information in order to create the scene when Clement Moore first read his new poem to his family. Here is a picture of it.
Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town was written on the subway in New York on the way to the publisher. I have a wonderful painting of that. Here is a photo. I shall bring the big painting of where Jingle Bells was written in Medford Massachusetts in 1851.”
So excited for you to meet Tom!
